When you came home from all day at the beach, showered, watched Wide World of Sports while Dad was BBQing burgers.
Going to Alpha Beta's once or twice a month for groceries, and begging for Hop-Scotch ice cream.
Watching the endless trucks go by with huge rocks in back, your Dad telling you a Harbor was being built near Doheny.
Getting $5 from your parents so you could by ALL your Christmas gifts for family and friends.
Walking or riding your bike to your locations; friends, beach or into town.

The biggest buildings for miles were the hangers at LTA Marine Base near Tustin. Growing up in then unincorporated Irvine, I remember you could hear the wind blowing through the wheat fields near UCI. Tumble weeds blowing up the street on Santa Ana windy days. does anybody remember "The Pink Bus"?

When you went to Grad Night at Disneyland for an all nighter.
When in downtown HB, you stopped at Georges Surf Shop on Main st. for a smoothie.
You listened to KEZY.
You were a surfer or a lowrider.
You could lip sync Cheech and Chongs first album.
You knew who the 'real Don Steele' was.
Gemco was a Saturday tradition.
HB was a blue collar beach town, not what it is today.
The Starlight Ballroom at Knotts was a hot place to meet chicks.
Traffic was a little thicker on the 405 at rush hour, but it still moved.
The Santa Ana winds always seemed to be blowing, with a strong scent of sage in the air.
A Slurpee at 7-11 was a big deal.
You remember The Lone Ranger at Beach blvd and Slater.

You thought the pizza and Icee from Fedco was the best.
You wore "Dolphin shorts" that you bought at the swap-meet, or borrowed from your friend.
You used the velcro wallet, then matching purses, from the swap-meet--the ones that had the ocean sunset theme on them.
You wore your favorite OP shirt for your 3rd grade picture.

The surfer girls wore hawaiian wrap skirts (and/or bikini bottoms) with crocheted bathing suit tops.
Guys wore hang-tens. 18th street in Newport was a happening beach. We used to take the bus from Anaheim. It didn't matter how long it took to get there. Strips with cheese from the Newport pier snack- shack was the meal of choice or Perry's Pizza of course.
