We were having fun petting all the animals until we realized one of the goats had gone behind my mom and had eaten the back and bottom out of the bag she was holding and stuff started falling out all over the ground. That was really funny to me and it stands out as one of my oldest and funniest memories of Knotts. It has changed so much over the years but it's nice that some of the best parts remain unchanged even today.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10397898.post-2449047971534432013-05-02T13:23:09.616-07:002013-05-02T13:23:09.616-07:00Dгу gгеen ωeight loss pills that ωοrκs are pгobabl...Dгу gгеen ωeight loss pills that ωοrκs are pгobably еffeсtіve aѕ a way to help
yоu get the benefіts ωhile on the run.

Also ѵіsit my blog poѕt - Mindshake.deAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10397898.post-68213534766612645342013-04-29T15:03:27.662-07:002013-04-29T15:03:27.662-07:00And dentures in Mesa AZ have only gotten more expe...And dentures in Mesa AZ have only gotten more expensive. I also remember the Zeeonky,...I remember the Liger. I also remember the Zeeonky, half zebra, half donkey that you were refering to. I also remeber the sway back horse and the clydesdale. That was always the first place I would go when I got there. I also played at Jungle Island as a child, and I still have my last ticket from there. My dad used to like to go in the evenings (this was in the 60's before it was fenced off), and go to the stage area where the chuck wagons were, and watch the Sons of the Pioneers play. I remember the bottle house the monkey, (who sometimes got an additude), and the goat on the roof. The chickens running around everywhere, The stage coach ride, the gunslingers, watching the pies and candy being made, and the old jail cell. (<<< When I really little I was afraid of it). I also loved the gift shop because every now and then I could get my dad to buy me another Breyer model if I really wanted it. I also bought all of my Russ Berrie Oily Jigglers there. I still have all of them today. You could get the best boysenberry jam there, and that flavor is still my favorite to this day. I was really ruined when they fenced it off and made all of the changes after Mr. Knott died. Deos anyone remember the Japanese Deer Park down the street? It was closed due to the deer being sick with some illness. They had to put them all down. I hear that the Wax Museum is gone now as well. All of those things were things you did that revolved around going to Knott's Berry Farm. I myself have very warm memories of my the time I spent there regardless.JUlie Johttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06688820703857543291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10397898.post-60083799727154276372013-02-06T10:03:55.887-08:002013-02-06T10:03:55.887-08:00I have one as well. I have such fond memories of my grandparents taking me to Knott's on Sundays after church to people watch, eat rock candy on a string and every flavor of licorice you could want, and peer into the little glass cases that held the minitures way in the back of the park. I LOVED the miniatures!!

I so fondly remember the haunted shack - especially the faucet that was not connected to anything.....how could that be....and how you walked sideways and everything seemed normal around you. The bubble was burst when I found out that you could leave a note at the entrance of attraction so the guy in the jail cell knew something about you.

The other day for some reason I had a memory about handing pennies to a monkey dressed in a little suit with a hat (and I vividly remember the feel of his hand grabbing them from my hand) but couldn't remember where that was. You could hold out your hand and he would grab the penny and then tip his hat which was attached to his head with an elastic strap. Now I remember it was Knott's.

No one believes me when I tell them that there used to be a seal pond where you could buy little paper bags with smelly fish for .50 and hang over the side and feed them. There was so much noise and the smell of that area was awful and I had to beg my grandparents to go there. The mexican food in that area was awful!!

I remember putting pennies on the train track and running to find it after the train passed. Sometimes the penny fell off before it got squished.

I will forever have all those fond memories - how excited I was when we drove up and parked in that dirt/grass lot under the trees with the chickens running around - and that it was going to be a fun day! I am forever grateful to grandma & grandpa for these childhood memories.

Robin Sanchezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01189797134779167165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10397898.post-54046824194924369122012-08-06T09:02:13.657-07:002012-08-06T09:02:13.657-07:00I worked at Knott's in the seventies. I worke...I worked at Knott's in the seventies. I worked in Admissions and in the Bank (or Cash in Ticket Office after the new main gate was built). Two of my children have worked there during school breaks.

I have very fond memories of my time at Knott's. I spent a little over 5 years there and can honestly say it was a wonderful experience. When I worked there I believe the minimum age was 18 so most of the employees were college students or recent high school graduates. Met some great people there - I even met my wife at Knott's.

I have not visited the amusement park area of Knott's in probably 20 years, I've only been to the shops and Chicken Dinner. From what I can see the inside has had many changes, changes that in a way make me sad (nostalgia may cloud my view). It appears to be a place now with a 6 Flags feel - it looks like it has lost its character. I've also noticed the hours they are opened are much shorter than when I worked there.

Some memories: The Knott Family - I do remember Walter Knott. The man would go through the park in his 'special' electric cart some mornings and it was a joy to see him. When I worked in the Bank there were occasions when he would want to cash a personal check, he would call down and we would take some cash to the mobile home he lived in just north of the Accounting office and exchange his personal check for cash (always a very modest amount). The man owned the park yet he seemed so much the 'everyman'. His children were very active back then - Steve was very active in Operations and a true gentleman. Virginia ran her business like clockwork and the business was very separate from Knott's - separate accounting, separate cash funds. I also remember Marion who seemed to become more involved as each year went by. Each member of the family visited the Bank regularly for reasons I don't feel comfortable explaining. Nice family who seemed to care deeply about the business their folks created.

I was at Knott's on Saturday, just to walk around the shops. Bathrooms are filthy - both outside the main gate and in the Chicken Dinner. Employees seemed friendly but the vibe seemed different from when I worked there. I hope Knott's is around for a long, long time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10397898.post-22251742527367749802012-06-20T20:40:45.230-07:002012-06-20T20:40:45.230-07:00My dad was an Orange County Sheriff and he use to ...My dad was an Orange County Sheriff and he use to patrol the grounds of Knotts Berry Farm before they put the fence up. He would kick out all the homeless that would sleep there. There was an actual jail on the grounds too. My dad would also volunter to be the voice of the old man in the jail. When my dad worked there he met a young kid who worked at the Birdcage theater who later got a job on the TV series, Ozzie and Harriet with Ricky Nelson and David Nelson. the kid had the part of Wally, Rick's friend.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10397898.post-22682028600404962472012-04-18T21:12:13.945-07:002012-04-18T21:12:13.945-07:00does anyone remember Maxine the story lady from th...does anyone remember Maxine the story lady from the 50'sAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10397898.post-63136927829744488182012-03-19T23:40:30.629-07:002012-03-19T23:40:30.629-07:00I remember Knotts very well from the 1970's wh...I remember Knotts very well from the 1970's when I went there a number of times and it was AWESOME! I loved Jungle Island (the "Woodniks" were unique), Knotts Berry Tales Ride, Mine Ride, feeding the ducks, and the volcano being operated by the little red devil! Also the steamboat on the lake (Cordelia K), the mini train that went around the lake, and the fantastic fireworks they used to have at Fiesta Village during the summer. It was all spectacular! So sad that most of it is gone and what has replaced it is just one more plastic amusement park filled with "thrill rides". Knotts was fun because it had a unique character and a wonderful old west feel. Although I haven't been there in a long time, I heard they even got rid of Deadwood Dicks grave.Gabrielnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10397898.post-57006288777672856272011-11-30T08:13:35.686-08:002011-11-30T08:13:35.686-08:00I remember going to see Ricky Nelson at the John W...I remember going to see Ricky Nelson at the John Wayne Theatre.
