Oakcrest Financial

by Ron Meyers, October 4, 2000

Oakcrest Financial was founded in 1987 by Ron and Sharon Meyers.

Ron and Sharon, both high school teachers, moved to Mission Viejo in 1970. After ten years in education, Ron entered real estate in the late 70's and Sharon continued teaching at El Toro High School. In 1982, Sharon entered the mortgage industry. Five years later, with Ron's real estate experience and Sharon's mortgage experience Oakcrest Financial was opened.

Within three short years, Oakcrest was rated the number one mortgage broker in Orange County with over $275,000,000 million in originated loans. During the early 1990' s, with the real estate market experiencing a strong recession, Oakcrest maintained their position as number one with a rebound in refinances. Interest rates were dropping and people began taking advantage of getting rid of their adjustable loans. This was considered one of the strongest refinance markets that the country had seen in over thirty years, despite the soft real estate sales.

When interest rates started to climb in the mid 90's and the real estate market still not out of its slump, refinances began to dwindle, lenders began to close up their shops. Nearly 80% of all mortgage companies that were opened during the lean years of 1992-1995 closed their doors. Due to Oakcrest Financial's reputation for doing a great job, and the loyalty they had developed over the years with some of the most successful realtors, Oakcrest not only stayed open, it continued to maintain its high level of production.

Today, Oakcrest has entered the new phase of technology with their own web-site: (eloancalifornia.com), and the implementation of loan approval over the internet within minutes of taking a full application. Oakcrest continues to be innovative, and prides itself on its integrity and professionalism along with educating their clients on all loan programs and options. In the end, it looks like Ron and Sharon are still teachers at heart.
